Berry Ladies FC 1-1 Ladystrikers FC: Berries draws again as Martha Appiah scores

Berry Ladies FC dominated the game, but it was Martha Appiah who broke the deadlock, stunning the home crowd with a brilliant finish to a counterattack in the 54th minute.

Ladystriker FC’s forward Edem Atovor scored a splendid goal in the 56th minute to cancel out Martha Appiah’s opener for Berry Ladies FC as they drew 1-1 in the Malta Guinness Women Premier League at Madina Astroturf on Monday, 6th March, 2023 with Berries forward Portia Sakyiwaa sent off in the first half of play.

Berry Ladies FC continued to dominate and went close to taking the lead on a number of occasions, but Ladystrikers FC held firm to claim its point, with the home side (Berry Ladies FC) now having drawn twice in a row.

TALKING POINT

.

Some Fans: “It sounds ridiculous, but having dropped four points in two games, Berry Ladies FC’s title challenge is ailing. Not because two dodgy results mean they’re no longer good, but because the number of points required to win the title is so high, that dropping them – against Soccer Intellectuals FC and Ladystrikers FC too– means they’ve handed Essiam Socrates FC more points advantage. Retrieving that will take some doing.”

PLAYER OF THE MATCH(MVP)

.

Jafaru Rahama (Berry Ladies FC) though couldn’t score, or assist was almost everywhere giving her best but most of the strikers couldn’t utilize the chances she created and was the one-woman forward-line her side needed. She won the Most Valuable Player of the Match again.
.
The pattern was set from the start, Berry Ladies FC dominating possession and Ladystrikers FC threatening on the counterattacks. Jacqueline Amponsah and Victoria Salifu had a lot of chances they couldn’t utilize while Cynthia Boakye Yiadom had an attempt blocked by their defenders. Coach Freeman turned to his bench, bringing on Diana Wiege, Felicity and Felicia but with Lady strikers FC defending so deep it was awkward for Berry Ladies FC to find a winning goal.
.
Lady strikers FC held firm, Berry Ladies FC fans chanting names of the players throughout, and their Goalkeeper up to anything that Berry Ladies FC threw at her, with Madina Astroturf begging for the ball to hit the net again. It did not. And Berry Ladies FC hopes of 4 wins all but gone.
