As Berry Ladies FC prepares for their upcoming fixture against Soccer Intellectuals, Coach Freeman Amponsah has provided a crucial update on the team’s condition and readiness. In a recent chat with one of Berry Ladies Media Team, the coach detailed the health of the squad, which unfortunately includes a number of key players sidelined due to injuries and some forced to play our recent match with Army Ladies FC.
Injury Concerns:
Berry Ladies FC faces a challenging situation, with several first-team members out injured. The list includes:
- Priscilla Agyemang, a vital part of the defense, continues her recovery process after injury last week.
- Janet Osei Korkor, the team’s forward, who has been pivotal in the attack this season but got injured during a friendly match two days to our game against Army Ladies FC
- Goalkeeper Gifty Amewoyi, our second goalkeeper, is also unavailable, adding pressure to the team’s defensive setup.
- Dorcas Quansah and Deborah Annoh, both defenders were supposed to be out, putting a strain on the back line but Deborah Annoh sacrificed to play full 96 minutes with her injury (vs Army Ladies Fc)
- Elizabeth Linking Boateng, another key midfielder, might miss the upcoming match. She was brought in (vs Army Ladies FC) but couldn’t continue due to injury.
- Goalkeeper Grace Krofi Amoah, the first-choice goalkeeper, which could complicate the selection for the coach after her injury during our match against Army Ladies FC
- Regina Donkor, who has recently returned from an injury but not fully recovered through played our last match with Army Ladies FC.
- Dorcas Ntiriwaa, who has been out for three weeks due to thigh injury.
- Captain and Defender Cynthia B. Yiadom, whose presence in defense might be missed against the Soccer Intellectuals if her recovery slows down.
Coach Amponsah expressed his concern over the team’s current injury woes but remained optimistic about the depth of the squad. “It’s indeed a tough phase for us in terms of injuries,” he stated. “However, this is an opportunity for other players to step up and show their worth. We have trust in our squad depth, and I am confident that those who get the chance will make a significant impact.”
Strategy and Team Morale
Despite the injury setbacks, the team’s morale remains high, with players eager to prove their resilience in the face of adversity. Coach Amponsah has been working on tactical adjustments to ensure the team remains competitive and well-organized when they face Soccer Intellectuals.
Focus on Youth and Opportunity
This upcoming match provides an excellent opportunity for our younger players and those from the reserve team to step into more prominent roles. The coaching and technical staff has been closely monitoring progress in training sessions, and fans might see a few new faces making the starting lineup just as one made the MVP during the Berry Ladies FC Vs Army Ladies FC
Looking Forward
Looking ahead to the match against Soccer Intellectuals, Coach Amponsah emphasized the importance of focus and determination: “Soccer Intellectuals are a strong team, but we are prepared to give our best. Our aim is to secure three points and move higher up in the standings. The team is focused, and we will approach the game with the right strategy and mentality.”
Berry Ladies FC will be looking to overcome their injury challenges and continue their campaign with a strong performance in their next game. Coach Amponsah’s confidence in his squad’s depth will be tested, but it also presents a silver lining as emerging talents have the chance to shine on a bigger stage like Victoria Amenyo
