Interview: Berry Ladies FC 1-3 Hasaacas Ladies – We didn’t Get What We Deserved

In a short Interview with Berry Ladies FC’s Coach, Freeman Amponsah after the game, he brought up some points which was something he and his team noticed during our clash with Hasaacas Ladies FC. Here is a conversation we had with Coach Freeman:

WE NEEDED MORE LUCK

“I think the performance was right from us. I also think we played [a] very good game. But everything went against us and I must say we just didn’t win the game because we had a little bit of hard luck.”

DECISIONS DIDN’T GO OUR WAY

“You saw the game and you could see how our player, Elizabeth Linking Boateng was hurt which was a straight red card incident, yet no card was given. We also saw a lot of decisions which was supposed to go our way but didn’t and what can we do but to accept them. We lost one of our best midfielders that opened the game and our tactics changed.”

PERFORMANCE WAS A STEP FORWARD

“We were more compact, very good defending, high blocks, lower blocks etc. Everyone was involved and then we had the first goal from Deborah Annoh in the dieing end of the second half. I think on the ball we were calm and of course I see definitely also room for improvement, and I saw moments where we could go forward but we didn’t. We missed some forward passes as well. But I think, overall, I’m happy with the performance from the team but it wasn’t the result we deserved.”

Victoria Salifu and Janet Osei Played Well

“I think Janet Osei really played very good and also Victoria Salifu had a very good performance. That is why I am saying I was pleased. Janet Osei to me, was the overall and best utility player, had [a] very good impact on the game.”

OUR START TO THE SEASON

“Of course, we want to take more from each game. The first game [against Faith Ladies] was not our game but we ended up with a draw and [against Sea Lions] we took major points from them and that of Essiam Socrates too we ended with a win to take all 3 points. I see a good pattern and see a new generation of players hungry for the ball and i know we will come stronger.”

WE MUST IMPROVE

“We have to improve, definitely. We can beat everyone if we have the right mindset. It was such small margins in today’s game with Hasaacas ladies, so it could also have been our side winning if not for the petty mistakes we made at the back. Everyone on the field knew that we out played them but didn’t get the finish we deserved.”
