Berry Ladies Football Club hope to have a clearer picture of Martha Appiah’s fitness by the end of the week after she suffered a groin injury scare during the African Beach games.
The defender limped off during the first half training at black queen’s camp after she was on the receiving of some heavy challenges from her colleagues.
Berry Ladies FC manager Coach Freeman Amponsah said Martha Appiah suffered injuries to her groin and ankle. She had already reported to the Black queens’ camp training to be assessed by their fitness coach and technical team.
Martha was expected to be a key part of the Black Queens squad to Conakry ahead of the first leg of their Olympic Games qualifier against Guinea, but her fitness will be a concern for Coach Nora Hauptle
But Nora Hauptle will be nervously waiting to learn the outcome of any diagnosis. Coach Nora Hauptle has named a final squad for the trip as Ghana eyes a place in next summer’s Olympic Games.
The two teams are expected to clash in Conakry, the capital of Guinea before the second leg in Ghana a few days after as they target a slot for the prestigious competition to be staged in Paris next year.
Berry Ladies Football Club commences pre-season matches soon but is unlikely Martha Appiah would be risked in those games anyway, with Berry Ladies Football Club preparing for the Super Cup with both old and new players yet to be unveiled.
Coach Freeman was optimistic on Monday’s training that Martha had not suffered any serious damage and eased fears she could miss all the Super Cup Clash matches.
