In a thrilling away match, Berry Ladies FC clinched a 1-0 victory against Police Ladies FC, thanks to a decisive goal by Comfort Yeboah, the club’s highest goal scorer of the 2023/2024 season who already had 5 goals to her name. This crucial win marked Berry Ladies as the only club to score against Police Ladies on their home grounds (Alajo Astroturf) this season.
The match was fiercely contested, with Police Ladies defending their turf with vigor. However, Comfort Yeboah broke through their defenses in the first half, netting the game-winning goal and marking her 6th goal for the season. Unfortunately, Comfort Yeboah sustained a serious eyebrow injury during the match and was promptly rushed to a nearby clinic for immediate treatment. We wish her a speedy recovery.
Phenomenal Performances and MVP Award
Deborah Annoh’s outstanding performance was instrumental in securing the win, earning her the Nasco Most Valuable Player of the fixture. Her defensive prowess was on full display, thwarting numerous attacks and maintaining a solid backline throughout the match.
In addition to Deborah Annoh’s stellar performance, Portia Sakyiwaa, Martha Appiah, and Regina Donkor also played the full 90 minutes plus stoppage time, contributing significantly to the team’s defensive strength and overall success.
A Triumph for Coach Freeman
This victory propels Berry Ladies FC to 3rd place on the league table after this final fixture of matchday 18, a remarkable improvement from last season under the guidance of Coach Freeman Amponsah. Last season, Freeman took the team from 7th to 4th position and secured the club’s first bronze medal at the Women’s Top 8 competition. This season, his leadership has once again paid off, with Berry Ladies FC finishing in 3rd place and qualifying for the Top 8 league next season.
Looking Ahead
As the season concludes, Berry Ladies FC reflects on a year of growth and achievement. The team’s ascent under Coach Freeman’s direction is a testament to their hard work, strategic gameplay, and resilience. The club eagerly anticipates the upcoming Top 8 league, confident in their ability to continue their upward trajectory.
Berry Ladies FC extends heartfelt thanks to all supporters and sponsors for their unwavering support throughout the season. Together, we celebrate this victory and look forward to more triumphs in the future.
Forza Berry Ladies!
